Since Detroit's 5-3 win over St. Louis on Friday, neither team has won. That streak is about to end for one team when the two sides meet on Thursday night.

The Red Wings (4-4-1) looked ready to move on their poor start when they defeated the Blues, but then played two poor games against teams they were expected to defeat. The Wings fell apart against the Blue Jackets on Saturday night and then got leveled by the Calgary Flames at home on Tuesday. "I thought we did some good things tonight, but we made some mistakes and they shot in our net without any question about it, so we're chasing the game," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said after the loss to the Flames.

The Blues (6-3-0) were off to a tremendous start until they took on the Wings last Friday. They played again on Tuesday and were embarrassed by the Nashville Predators. "This is a team loss that has been coming for a little while. We're allowing the other teams' competitiveness to frustrate us," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock told the press after the game. "It pushes us into individual hockey rather than team hockey."

Captain David Backes added: "Maybe it was a case of feeling too good about ourselves...(Nashville) came out and played a hard road game. And we needed to respond."

Previous Meetings: This is the third meeting of the season. The Blues thrashed the Wings 6-0 on opening night while Detroit won the more recent matchup 5-3.

Predictions: The Blues will be determined to overcome their embarrassing 6-1 loss. They will win this 4-3 in overtime.
