While the Miami 'face-eating' victim, Ronald Poppo, still remains under treatment for the atrocious May 26 attack, there has been no new announcement regarding his condition at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
The most recent news regarding his health was announced a few days after the attack informing that Mr. Poppo was in critical condition and under intensive care.
The Latinos Post attempted to contact the hospital for comment, but there was no response.
On the contrary, investigations over the case of Rudy Eugene are gradually unraveling but at the same time remain conflictive.
CBS reported on June 6 that "preliminary results for Eugene's toxicology report show that Eugene's body tested positive for marijuana."
Although still early to determine what exactly provoked such beastly attack, police authorities suspect that Eugene may have been under the influence of synthetic drugs at the time of the incident.
Eugene's ex-girlfriend, Yovonka Bryant from South Florida, gave details about her former boyfriend during a press conference on Wednesday.
According to CBS News, Bryant shared she felt "safe with Eugene" but also described him as someone who always made sure he took his Bible wherever he went.
Bryant at the same time, however, admitted she had seen Eugene smoke marijuana in one occasion. She also said she thought someone may have given drugs to Eugene before the attack but refused to give more details when asked to elaborate more on why she reasoned like that.
A pervading atmosphere of mystery has remained since the attack, and with things still unclear anticipation grows over the full toxicology report that is due to be released in the coming weeks. The report should shed a better light on what prompted Eugene to carry out such grizzly attack.
Poppo had his face chewed off during Memorial Day weekend. After the attack, his mouth, nose, eye and ears were all torn away.
Experts say that although he will need at the least several months to recover, his face will remain permanently damaged. They predict that Poppo's medical bill will end up in the hundreds of thousands of dollars while some other experts believe that it could actually ascend to $1 million.
Eugene, the aggressor, was reportedly shot five times by a Miami-Dade police officer before being killed.
Two funds have been opened to assist Ronald Poppo with his necessities.
The funds were opened by the Jackson Memorial Foundation and by Fredo Gonzalez, a private citizen from Boston, MA who launched the fundraiser on GiveForward, an online fundraising tool, meant to help people raise or gather funds for causes and organizations important to them.
