The Ann Curry reports about leaving NBC continues.
Rumors first speculated that the former "Today" co-host was in talks for a primetime show on CNN following former NBC executive Jeff Zucker taking charge as president for the cable news network. However, those reports were proven false.
"Well-connected network sources tell us reports that Zucker is courting Curry to be the next CNN star couldn't be further from the truth. Fact is, Zucker doesn't believe Curry is the answer to CNN's problems and is continuing the search elsewhere," reported TMZ.
"Ann has been sainted because of what happened to her [on 'Today']. The fact is ... she definitely can't carry a prime time show," the source for TMZ added.
With what appears to be one new gig dashed, another opportunity rises.
According to Radar Online, Al Jazeera has approached Curry as the news network prepares to launch their American based channel - Al Jazeera America.
"Ann has had informal talks about working for the new Al Jazeera operation in America which is expected to formally launch later this year," a source tells Radar. "She's extremely interested in what the network will be doing in the U.S. and has always held their reporting in high regard."
Al Jazeera America is set to launch soon following the purchase of former U.S. Vice president Al Gore's decision to have the Qatar government owned company buy his network, reportedly for $500 million.
"[Curry is] still in talks with CNN, but the opportunity of being front and center at the launch of a new international news channel, especially one that promises to shake up and challenge existing reporting of world events, is something that greatly appeals to her," the Radar source added.
The latest Curry rumors come as NBC has allegedly prohibited Curry from conducting live interviews for their network. However, NBC has dismissed the claims as "gossip."
