Gabriel Porras has been added to the cast of Telemundo's new telenovela "El Señor de Los Cielos."
During a video conference, Porras confirmed that he would be part of the production and would most likely drop out of "Marido en Alquiler," a telenovela that will star Juan Soler, Maritza Rodriguez and Sonya Smith.
Porras stated that Telemundo called him to work on "Cielos" and would require him to fly to Mexico for the filming. Porras noted that he would have an important role but provided no details on which character it would be.
"El Señor de Los Cielos" is based on the Mexican crime organizations in the 90s; Rafael Amaya will play Amado Carrillo, one of the most powerful drug lords in Mexico. Little has been revealed about the plot or release date for the TV series.
Porras last starred in "Corazon Valiente" as Miguel Gutierrez and in "La Casa del Lado." He also starred alongside Amaya in another crime drama "La Reina del Sur" with Kate del Castillo.
"El Señor de los Cielos" was shot in Mexico City, Morelos, and on authentic airports, estates and ranches. The telenovela will include Colombian actress Carmen Villalobos, Andres Parra, Sara Corrales, Fernando Solórzano, Julián Arango and Mario Cimarro.
