The Calgary Flames (1-3-2) look for their second win of the season when the visit the Detroit Red Wings (4-3-1) on Tuesday.
The Flames insist that they are a better team than their record indicates. The team pushed Chicago to a shootout in their latest match and got goals from Denis Wideman and Jay Bouwmeester. Calgary dominated the game and had 47 shots on goal. However the team lost in the deciding shootout and has a league-low four points.
"We've said it all along that we're a better team," said forward Alex Tanguay. "For some reason, when you don't win you find ways to lose, and certainly that was one of those cases."
They hope their fortunes will change against a struggling Red Wings team. Detroit earned a tremendous win over the St. Louis Blues on Friday but failed to build on it when they took on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday. In the latter match, Detroit lost steam after a strong start and eventually let Columbus take over the game.
"[Columbus] had more energy, they played better and they got better and better as the game went on, and we got worse and worse," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said.
Previous Meetings: This is the first of three meetings between the two clubs. They split the four meetings last season.
