The Nashville Predators (3-2-3) look to defeat the St. Louis Blues (6-2-0) for the first time this season when they teams face off on Tuesday evening.
The Predators have had a tough start to the 2013 season but have pulled out two clutch victories in a row. The Predators took down the Los Angeles Kings in the shootout on Jan. 31 before ending the San Jose Shark's perfect start with an identical 2-1 shootout win. Sharks' captain Joe Thornton was impressed by Nashville's performance against them in the loss and stated that "[Nashville] played good defense with great goaltending," Sharks captain Joe Thornton said. "We had our chances. We just didn't bear down. It was just a good, hard-fought game."
The Blues meanwhile are looking to bounce back from a 5-3 loss to the Red Wings and the injury to number one goalie Jaroslav Halak. Halak was injured during the first period of the game against Detroit and is expected out until this weekend.
"We expect him to have no problem being ready for the weekend," said Head Coach Ken Hitchcock. "This is more just a precaution. We'd rather get it 100 percent and not have this thing lingering or doing anything like that."
Previous matchups: The two sides have faced off twice this season. The Blues won 4-3 on Jan.21. Three days later Halak pitched a 13 save shutout as the Blues won 3-0. The teams will not meet again until April.
Predictions: The Blues have played well against the Predators this season. They continue this trend with a 4-1 win on Tuesday.
