Despite the fact that Justin Timberlake is now married to actress/model Jessica Biel, it seems as if the former boy band frontman is still harboring negative feelings toward his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears. The "Suit and Tie" crooner and the "I Wanna Go" singer shared a high-profile romance starting back in 1999. However, their relationship took a sour turn for the worst in 2002 which resulted in Timberlake writing one of his biggest singles, "Cry Me A River."
While performing over the weekend in New Orleans at his DirecTV Super Bowl-eve concert, the "SexyBack" singer may have tapped into the same heartache he felt over a decade ago. Just before he performing "Cry Me A River," the former boy band singer told the audience, "Sometimes in life, you think you found the one. But then one day you find out that she is just some b---h."
The next day, Timberlake took to Twitter to deflect speculation that the "b---h" that he was referring to was Britney Spears. "OK. I see you. Wouldn't disrespect ANYONE personally. Ever," he tweeted. He then clarified he was quoting from Spears' song "Gimme More" where she sings "I'm Britney, bitch." "#Relax #ItsBritneyBitch I do love that saying though *with accent* #Respect."
In 2011, JT told Vanity Fair that he wished Spears well. "That goes without saying," he told the magazine, adding that they hadn't spoken in "nine or ten years."
"We were two birds of the feather -- small-town kids, doing the same thing," he said of Spears, whom met while working on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1992. "But then you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn't make any sense. I won't speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person. I just don't think we were normal; there was nothing normal about our existence."
