Every southern belle has a soft spot in her heart for three-time grammy-winner Tim McGraw. The country singer's heartfelt songs and warm country voice gives him a powerful aura, and with a sober and healthy attitude, he's unstoppable.
"I drank a lot from my point of view and I needed to stop," McGraw, 45, told People Magazine. "I felt quitting was something I needed to do. I didn't feel I had any moral high ground with my kids in the long run." McGraw admitted to taking more than a few casual drinks here and there. "I wasn't a beer drinker. I was more a whiskey drinker. And I wouldn't just have a drink. If I was going to drink, I'd have some drinks. People were worried about me. It was to the point where I felt it was negatively affecting my relationships and getting in the way of things I wanted to accomplish in life. So I quit. ... I am probably less embarrassing to her now."
McGraw decided to change his life style almost five years ago. He put down the booze and picked up the weights, diving into an intense workout regimen. But McGraw didn't hit the gym just to look good for all his drooling fans, he did it for his three daughters Gracie, 15, Maggie, 14, and Audrey, 11. McGraw is a family man, and he felt that with such a busy career, there was no time for both alcohol and his kids and wife, fellow country legend Faith Hill.
While being the family man that he is, McGraw will also be releasing his new album Two Lanes of Freedom on Feb. 5 and is following the release with a 30-city tour. McGraw has had 11 albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard album charts and has had 21 hit singles follow suit. Needless to say, the sky is the limit for his newest album coming out this week.
"I'm in a good place right now," said McGraw. "I really feel like this new album is not a culmination of the things I've done, it's a new beginning of the things I am going to do. I want to enjoy my career and having my family. I have a busy life, but it is a fulfilling life."
McGraw simply does it all. Between family, health, and success, what more can anyone ask for in life?
