Temple Run 2 already broke records on iOS devices by having 20 million downloads by the end of its first weekend, and now it's broken another record. In the first two weeks, Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times on iOS, Android and Kindle devices, combined.

That sets the record for the fastest growing mobile game, which was previously set last year in April, when Angry Birds Space became the fastest growing game ever. However, it took Angry Birds Space 35 days to reach the same 50 million downloads.

"Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us," said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi, in their release. "The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time."

Despite getting some so-so reviews by Time and Wired, which complained that the sequel to Temple Run offered not much more than the first installment, but with better graphics, Temple Run 2 has been a hit with fans. It was the top free download in the Apple App Store after four days, with players collectively playing through 210 million sessions of the infinite runner. That's a combined total of 1,775 years of game play.

Imangi Studios has already cashed in on Temple Run the first, partnering with Disney for Temple Run: Brave, and licensing their brand for apparel, sleepwear, digital comics, board games, card games, and arcade games.

The Temple Run series is an infinite running game and features a tomb raider which steals an idol from a temple and then must run to escape the jaws of a demonic monkey, picking up coins and power-ups on the way.
