A 14-year-old student and a teacher were shot Thursday at Price Middle School in southeast Atlanta. There are three suspects currently in custody, reported Reuters.
The student had been shot in the head and rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta. "There is one boy who was shot. He's Ok," said an Atlanta police spokeswoman.
The second victim, a teacher, suffered minor injuries and was properly treated at the scene of the shooting.
The Middle School is currently on lockdown. A conference concerning the shooting will be held within an hour.
The shooting comes at a time when the nation is in turmoil over gun violence, especially in schools. The incident is far too reminiscent of the Connecticut shooting last month, where 20 students and six staff members were shot dead at Newton Elementary School.
