There is good news for Katie Couric and her new syndicated daytime talk show.
"Katie," which is handled by Disney-ABC Domestic Television, has been renewed for a second season.
"Katie is an immensely talented host who has an incomparable ability to connect with her viewers," said Disney-ABC Domestic Television President Janice Marinelli. "We also have outstanding station partners and time periods, and look forward to continued success with 'Katie' this year and into Season Two."
"Hosting, producing and launching a show from scratch has been challenging but very rewarding," said Couric. "I'm looking forward to working with our terrific team to build on the success of our first season, and continuing to share compelling stories, explore important topics, and create entertaining television for our audience."
According to TV Newser, of the 18 talk shows currently on the air, "Katie" is the sixth most watched averaging 2.497 million viewers but is the number one new talk show.
Viewership for Couric's show it an all time peak since its debut when she interviewed college football player Manti Te'o, peaking number one in the major cities of Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia. The Te'o interview saw a 30 percent increase in the show's ratings.
"Katie" is currently distributed in over 95 percent of the U.S. for the second season.
