Despite the success of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy and Disney's "The Avengers," Warner Bros is hesitant to release their upcoming "Justice League" movie.
According to Variety, the company is awaiting the box office receipts of the upcoming "Man of Steel" to determine whether to green light the Justice League film. The report notes that Warner Bros has not had great luck with films based on DC superheroes. In 2011, the studio released a film based off the Green Lantern; the film flopped at the box office with a measly gross of $116 million despite having a budget of $200 million. The film only took in at total of $219 million in domestic and international gross.
The film is almost set as Warner Bros has hinted at a 2015 release date and has hired Will Beall ("Gangster Squad") to pen the script. According to the Huffington Post, the cast has already been narrowed down to just five League members including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash.
"Man of Steel" is slated for a June 14, 2013 release date and has obtained a PG-13 rating. Early response to the trailers has been positive and having director Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight) billed in the credits has helped increase the film's profile.
