Fans of E.L. James' bestselling erotic series "50 Shades of Grey" can add yet another candidate in the ever growing list of Anastasia Steele contenders. This time, model-turned-actress Analeigh Tipton ("Warm Bodies") has spoken about the role, saying that she's thought it was "pretty neat" fans are considering her for the highly coveted role.
Speaking to PopSugar while promoting her latest film "Warm Bodies," the 24-year-old said, "It's a role that seems pretty brave. That kind of piques my interest." Tipton continued, "See how bold I can get [with a role]."
The former 'America's Next Top Model' contestant added that she was "up for it [playing Anastasia Steele]." The question now remains whether or not fans can picture her in the role and if ultimately, British author James and her production team think she's a good fit for the role.
In the last fan poll conducted by Latinos Post, newer contenders Emilia Clarke ('Game of Thrones') and Felicity Jones ("Like Crazy") surpassed former fan favorites Alexis Bledel ('Gilmore Girls') and Nina Dobrev ('The Vampire Diaries'). Even "Ted" actress Mila Kunis, who received wide opposition among fan comments, garnered more support than Bledel and Dobrev.
Unfortunately for fans, casting decisions will be delayed until the production staff decides upon a director and screenwriter Kelly Marcel finishes writing the script. In a recent interview with E! News, James said she does not even want to reveal a wish list for her lead characters in case the team decides on other actors.
The film, which was picked up by Universal Pictures and Focus Films in early 2012, counts on Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti as its producers. "50 Shades" has not established a release date yet.
