Apple's experimental iPad mini, a device that many disregarded as a flippant rumor last year, has become an undendiable success for the company. Although demand remains high as profits continue to soar, it appears that Apple has tightened its grip on the market by creating enough supply to sate tech-hungry consumers.
Apple Insider reports that the Online Apple Store has reduced shipment times from two weeks to 3-5 days. Meanwhile, there have been reports that the iPad mini has caused iPad 4 sales to plummet, a claim that even Apple CEO TIm Cook puts forward.
"I can see cannibalization as a huge opportunity for us," says Cook. "One, our base philosophy is to never fear cannibalization. If we do, somebody else will just cannibalize it, and so we never fear it. We know that iPhone has cannibalized some iPod business. It doesn't worry us, but it's done that. We know that iPad will cannibalize some Macs. That doesn't worry us."
Apple's petite iPad features a 7.9-inch LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology, a 1024 x 768, fingerprint-resistant coating, a front-facing 1.2 Facetime HD camera, and a 5-megapixel iSight Camera. Powered by a dual-core A5 processor, the tablet is Bluetooth capable and is available in a LTE variant. The LTE device is available starting at $459 for the 16GB, $550 for the 32GB, and $659 for the 64GB version.
The fourth-generation iPad sports a Dual-Core A6X processor, a 9.7 in display, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless tech, 10 hours of battery life, and identical camera to the mini. With LTE, 16GB device costs $629, while the 64GB is priced at $829.Check back with Latinos Post for the latest tech updates.
