Miami-Dade County will reportedly pay the medical bill, probably up in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, for Ronald Poppo, the victim of a brutal attack that left him faceless last Saturday.
Dade County in Florida possesses a public health fund that covers the costs of health care and surgery for patients. For Poppo's case, there is no better time to disburse those funds.
In addition, two funds have been opened to assist recent 'zombie-attack' victim, Ronald Poppo, who had his face destroyed last week by Rudy Eugene, the aggressor.
The funds were opened by the Jackson Memorial Foundation on Thursday and by Fredo Gonzalez, a private citizen from Boston, MA who launched the fundraiser on GiveForward, an online fundraising tool, meant to help people raise or gather funds for causes and organizations important to them.

It will take some time for the Jackson Memorial Foundation to release details on how much donations were gathered for Poppo. On GiveForward however, the total amount of money from donations is displayed and updated as they enter.
The latter campaign gathered approximately $500 dollars on May 30, its first day. On May 31st, that amount rose to approximately $3000 and on June 1st, it overcame the $5000 mark. The goal of this campaign is to raise at least $50,000, a campaign that ends on August 31st, 2012.

Poppo had his face viciously savaged on May 26, during Memorial Day weekend. After the attack his mouth, nose, eyes and ears were all torn away. Experts say that although he will need at the least, several months to recover, his face will remain permanently damaged.
Eugene, the aggressor, was reportedly shot five times by a Miami-Dade police officer before heading towards the floor and being killed.
It is still unclear what caused Eugene to act in such irrational and inhumane manner. The results of toxicology tests will be announced in weeks and authorities are hoping the results will shed a better light on the still incomprehensible incident.
