This weekend the Metropolitan Opera will continue itsacclaimed run of "Le Comte Ory."
Gioacchino Rossini's comic gem "Le Comte Ory" stars Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Florez, Nathan Gunn, Karine Deshayes, and Met debutante Pretty Yende. "Ory" will be performed at 7:30 on Jan. 25
The Met will continue its extraordinary run of Giacomo Puccini's "La Rondine" on Saturday Jan. 26 for a matinee performance starting at 1pm. The opera will be transmitted live on the Toll Brothers Radio Broadcast on WQXR and stars Giuseppe Filianoti and Kristine Opolais. In the evening David McVicar's new production of Gaetano Donizetti's "Maria Stuarda" starring Joyce Didonato will be performed at 8pm.
The New York Philharmonic will perform a Russian program, including works by Piotr Ilych Tchaikovsky and Dimitri Shostokovich. The program will also feature violist Jennifer Koh and will be conducted by Lorin Maazel. The concert will be performed on Jan. 25 and 26 at 8pm.
On Sunday Jan. 27th the Vertavo String Quartet will perform the Haydn Quartet no. 8 and the Smetana Quartet entitled "For My Life."The program will be performed at the Walter Reade Theater at 11pm.
The New York City Ballet will perform two different programs. "Balanchine/Martins" will be performed on Jan 25 at 8pm and 26th at 8pm. The program includes Tchaikovsky' Pas de Deux, Bal de Couture and Diamonds. On Saturday at 2pm a program entitled "Balenchine and Tchaikovsky" will be presented. The program includes Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.2 and the "Mozartiana."
