In last week’s episode of ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ the gang received a not-so-welcomed treat when Original Vampire Rebekah (Claire Holt) shows up at school and compels Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accola) to catch her up with the latest news in town since she was stabbed. During her interrogation, Rebekah forces Elena to tell Stefan her true feelings for Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
Tension between the former couple comes to a head with Elena’s confession. At one point, Stefan even asks Rebekah to compel away all of his memories with Elena—good and bad. Of course, Rebekah refuses, saying that doing so would be too easy. To further torture her three hostages, Rebekah calls Tyler (Michael Trevino) and forces him to come save Caroline. However, when Tyler shows up, she compels him to turn into a werewolf, putting Elena, Stefan and Caroline’s lives in danger.
Meanwhile, Rebekah’s brother Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) goes to kidnap Dr. Shane (David Alpay) to torture information out of him regarding the cure to vampirism. When his torture technique doesn’t work and after Shane tells him he’s looking to free the first immortal warlock Silas, Kol decides to impale the professor. However, Kol and Rebekah don’t know that Bonnie (Kat Graham) is in the school and has cast a protection spell over Shane. The protection spell works, but not before causing April (Grace Phipps) to receive the same injuries as Shane. In order to save her, Stefan must make her drink his blood.
Back at the Gilbert cabin, Damon and Matt (Zach Roerig) help train new vampire hunter Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen). Original Hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) doesn’t like how things are going and decides to take matters into his own hands. The episode concludes with an unlikely pairing—Stefan and Rebekah—who decide to work together to find the cure to vampirism and beat out Klaus and the rest of Mystic Falls vampires.
In tonight’s episode, entitled “Catch Me if you Can,” Jeremy gets mad that Klaus has decided to send new vampires to him to speed up the map appearing on his body for the cure and for putting Matt’s life in danger. Meanwhile, Kol lets them know that he intends to stop everyone from searching for the cure.
Shane will get a visit from Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) and new Mayor Hopkins (guest star Rick Worthy) to get questioned about his involvement in the Founders’ Council deaths. The interrogation prompts questions from Bonnie and his answers “push Bonnie to the edge of her powers,” the CW teases. Meanwhile, Elena negotiates with Klaus to keep her brother Jeremy safe, but must come up with her own plan when an unexpected enemy shows up.
‘The Vampire Diaries’ S4E11, “Catch Me if you Can” airs tonight, January 24 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
