Adidas, sponsor of Manchester United, hopes to reunite Lionel Messi and Pep Guardiola at Old Trafford.

Based on recent reports originating in Spain, Adidas is planning to bring back together Barca star Messi and Bayern Munich manager Guardiola in a huge double deal. Marca, a Madrid-based newspaper, claimed that Adidas is prepared to fund the deal to boost the success of Manchester United.

Previously, Adidas sponsored the club at a world record fee. However, the company CEO, Herbert Hainer, was not satisfied with United’s playing style and criticized the club earlier in 2016 for ranking only at No. 6 in the league.

Independent revealed that Adidas agreed to a giant deal with Manchester United, valued at£750 million, to run for a full decade. The company will supply the club with various kits and merchandise. The sportswear company is reportedly planning to add more for Old Trafford to acquire Messi and Guardiola, which will hopefully improve its standing and enhance Adidas’ reputation as well.

Express reported that Guardiola is available after he confirmed that he will be departing from Bayern Munich at the end of the season. He revealed that he is planning to be hired in England. Many expect the Spaniard to join Manchester City, where he will be with Messi again. There have been rumors of Guardiola possibly going to United, Chelsea or Arsenal, although talks about Messi moving to Old Trafford did not circulate until recently.

Messi also said after receiving his fifth Ballon d’Or award that he wants to keep succeeding with Barcelona. He said that now is not the time to ponder on whether it is his peak. It is more important that they keep trying to win and working hard. He added that he always said that he cannot leave Barcelona and wants to finish his career at home.

"My home is Barcelona. Football changes so much. A year ago, we were all getting criticised and we ended up winning nearly everything. My intention is to terminate my career where it started, in Barcelona."

Messi, 28, is the flagship player of Adidas. He won three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles under the leadership of Guardiola. Metro revealed that when Messi also won the 2016 Ballon d’Or, he was awarded by Adidas with one-of-a-kind platinum football boots. He won World Player of the year five times already.

Adidas also sponsors Guardiola. More updates and details on the rumored reunion are expected to surface soon.
