In retaliation of the horrible and senseless acts of terror ISIS militants carried out in Paris Friday night, France has taken its own militant action.

The country in mourning has counteracted with airstrikes, their biggest raid to date, targeting the ISIS run city of Raqqa locatd in Syria.

As NBC News, reports the French military used 12 aircrafts, which included 10 fighter jets. The Defense Ministry said the strikes were lead simultaneously from the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

"Twenty bombs were dropped," the statement said, adding that the mission had taken place Sunday evening.

"The first target destroyed was used by ISIS as a commanding post. A jihad recruitment center. And a depot for arms and munitions. The second target housed a terrorist training camp," the ministry said.

The operation was carried out in coordination with U.S. forces, French officials said. The targets were identified based on previous reconnaissance missions conducted by France, the added.

Mirror also said Syrian activists today claimed a museum, a stadium and a medical center were hit by air strikes. They also advised as of yet, there are no reports of any civilians being killed or injured.

Saturday night President Francois Hollande called the attacks a "cowardly act of war carried out by ISIS barbarians."

President Holland also said the attacks were "committed by a terrorist army, the Islamic State group, a jihadist army, against France, against the values that we defend everywhere in the world, against what we are: a free country that means something to the whole planet."

He also let it be known that France "will be merciless toward the barbarians of Islamic State group", and "will act by all means anywhere, inside or outside the country."

"What we are defending is our country, but more than that, it is our values," he said.

The French airstrikes come after 129 people, including one American, were killed in an ISIS lead terrorist attack. 352 people were injured. At least 15 countries have announced their citizens were slain in the savage attack. Some have publicly identified their victims, while others have not released the names those who lost their lives publicly as yet.
