Disney has recently announced that the filming of the upcoming movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" has already started in Australia. The official synopsis of the much-awaited movie was also released in the statement posted on Disney Blog. Here is the complete synopsis of the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie:

"Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea... including him. Captain Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas."

Screen Rant notes that this synopsis is not directly the same with Brenton Thwaites' earlier statement. In an interview with the Mirror, Thwaites revealed that the movie is "about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones." He added that a curse is keeping them from being reconnected though he will continue to try to fix it and eventually save his father. Thwaites also said in the interview that he looks forward to working with Johnny Depp, who reprises his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, the movie series' main protagonist, as he is sure that "it'll be a lot of fun."

Since this synopsis suggests that the new movie would not be connected to previous "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, Screen Rant assumes that the new movie would then be better than its predecessors.

Disney's statement also confirmed earlier reports about Javier Bardem, Kayla Scodelario, Brenton Thwaites, and Golshifteh Farahani being part of the fifth movie installement. Also coming back in the movie are Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, and Stephen Graham as Scrum.

To date, it is still unknown whether Orlando Bloom, who plays the role of blacksmith turned pirate Will Turner, will be coming back in the movie. Though a Daily Mail report earlier cited the actor saying that he would be happy to go back to the film. We also earlier reported that there is a possibility that the filming of the new movie would be delayed due to Jack the Monkey as Australia requires animals that enter the said country to undergo a one-month quarantine. Jack the monkey is a character known for accompanying Captain Barbossa. It is being played by at least two trained monkeys.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Listed as executive producers are Chad Oman, Joe Caracciolo, Jr. and Brigham Taylor. It is written by Jeff Nathanson. It is directed by Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. It is expected to hit theaters in 2017.
